Massive picking and manual sorting solution

In the fashion and lifestyle sector, where balancing operational efficiency, flexibility and cost-effectiveness is key, assisted manual sorting offers a strategic, high-value solution.

How it Works

Based on a massive picking model, this solution allows operators to retrieve large quantities of items from different warehouse zones simultaneously, significantly reducing travel time and optimising internal goods flows.

Unlike traditional automated sorters, the picked items aren’t conveyed via motorised belts but are manually sorted with the aid of Put-to-Light systems, which visually guide operators to allocate each item to the correct destination order.

Accessible Technology with a Strong Cost–Benefit Ratio

This solution stands out for its technological accessibility and highly competitive cost–benefit profile. While its sorting capacity may be lower than that of a fully automated system, it delivers strong operational results with a dramatically lower initial investment.
Its architecture also allows for high flexibility, making it ideal for environments with seasonal peaks, promotional campaigns or frequent changes in the product mix.

Direct WMS Integration

Direct integration with our proprietary WMS, Logistica.Net, ensures full control of every phase in the process. The system assigns and monitors sorting tasks in real time, tracking every movement and optimising task distribution across workstations. Picking and sorting logic are configured to maximise the number of items processed within each operator’s reach. This synergy between software and operations enables adaptive management, resulting in higher accuracy, responsiveness and consistent performance, even under highly variable conditions.

The solution is suitable for both B2B and B2C operations, ideal for high-SKU-density environments, and allows for progressive system scalability without disruption. Route optimisation, fewer unnecessary movements and more efficient use of space also enhance the sustainability of operations, aligned with our ESG goals.

Benefits

1. Operational efficiency with low investment
Thanks to its simple structure and use of lightweight technologies such as Put-to-Light systems, this solution delivers solid efficiency at a fraction of the cost of complex automated systems—ideal for logistics centres with medium or fluctuating volumes seeking fast ROI.

2. Flexibility and reconfigurability
Manual sorting can be quickly restructured. Workstations can be reorganised to match business changes and distribution channel diversification (B2B, B2C, returns). This flexibility enables faster adaptation to demand spikes and shifts in product mix.

3. Technology that supports the operator
Wearable scanners and mobile devices streamline operations and reduce errors, while improving ergonomics for workers. Put-to-Light systems guide item placement, speeding up sorting and ensuring high order accuracy.

4. Native integration with the WMS
The solution is fully integrated with Logistica.Net, enabling real-time item tracking and intelligent workstation allocation. This advanced integration enhances performance, monitors inefficiencies, and boosts responsiveness to market needs.

5. Scalability and sustainability
Modular and scalable, this setup allows gradual capacity expansion without halting or redesigning the system. It also contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing excess movement and optimising space usage—, utting energy use and emissions.
